ESTATE COMPANY

Paradise Valley estates that will never be repeated.

One of One Estate Company builds estates in Paradise Valley that will never be repeated — each on a singular site, drawn by the finest hands in the Valley, furnished and complete, and recorded in the Catalogue.

Every estate we build is a one of one.

The Otium, Paradise Valley luxury estate — the pool terrace at sunset beneath Mummy Mountain

Estate I

The Otium

Named for the life it makes possible.

The Romans had a word for what a country house is for. Otium — cultivated leisure; time that belongs to you; the state Cicero called leisure with dignity. It was the life the villa existed to produce.

This house was built to produce it completely. Five acres on the north shoulder of Mummy Mountain. A hundred yards of glass laid along the ridge in floating planes, every principal room opening to terraces that step down the hill, and a pool still enough to hold the sky. Everything is at hand and nothing is wanting.

The Pardis — a new luxury estate in Paradise Valley, Arizona: the crescent pool on its stone rampart at dusk; Estate II of the One of One Catalogue

Estate II

The Pardis

Named for the garden that named the valley.

Before it was any language's word for heaven, paradise was a garden — in Old Persian, pairidaeza, a walled enclosure of water and shade in which a king could be at peace. A valley in Arizona borrowed the word for itself. Pardis is the word at its source.

This house is that garden, built: walled in stone on its promontory, a crescent of water curving to the shape of the hill, and the walls of the original standing all around it — Camelback at the center of the living room, Mummy Mountain, the Preserve, the McDowells. No other property in Paradise Valley holds all of them.

Current Work

Two estates are in construction, each on its own timeline.

Principles

The site comes first

We build only on singular ground, and the house is drawn to the land — never the reverse.

The hundred hands

Each estate is the work of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen in the Valley, named in its record.

Furnished and complete

An estate leaves our hands finished — every room furnished, every light set, every stone placed.

The withdrawal

On closing, the house becomes its owner's and we step back. One thing remains: the 1/1, set in bronze at the threshold.
